Telanagana News: At least seven Maoists were killed in a fierce exchange of fire with Greyhounds forces in Telangana’s Mulugu district, authorities confirmed on Sunday. The encounter, which took place in the dense Eturnagaram forest area, led to the death of two prominent leaders of the group, according to police reports.
Mulugu Superintendent of Police (SP) Shabarish stated, “Seven Maoists died in a police encounter in the Eturnagaram forest area.” Following the gunbattle, a search operation was launched in the area, with officials reporting the seizure of a large cache of weapons from the site. However, official details of the incident remain limited, and the identities of the deceased are still being confirmed.
Preliminary reports have revealed the names of those killed in the clash. Among the dead were several key figures from the Maoist group, including Kursum Mangu Alia Badru, alias Papanna, the TSCM Secretary of Illandu Narsampeta; Mallaya, alias Madhu, DVCM Secretary of the Eturu Nagaram – Mahadevpuram Division; Karunakar and Jamuna, both ACMs (Area Committee Members); and other party members, Jaisingh, Kishore, and Kamesh.
This deadly confrontation follows a heightened security presence in the region, where the Maoist insurgency continues to pose challenges to state authorities. Despite the setback, the Maoist party has announced plans to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) from December 2 to 8 across Telangana. This week of commemoration follows the recent Koyyuru encounter, and the Maoists have declared their intention to mark the occasion by continuing their resistance against government operations.
The announcement further highlights their commitment to challenging what they describe as the “Kagar” counter-revolutionary war, being waged by both central and state governments to eradicate the Maoist movement.
Authorities have yet to comment on any further developments regarding the Maoist party’s anniversary celebrations, but tensions remain high as both sides prepare for what could be a continued clash in the region.
